Borax Pentahydrate comprises of 5 mol water. It is stated also as sodium tetraborate pentahydrate, disodium tetraborate pentahydrate, borax 5 mole. Borax Pentahydrate, chemical formula is Na2B4O7.5H2O, is white, odorless and granular.

Flame Retardants

     Flame retardants prevent inflaming and spreading of flame. Borates are used in

different materials as flame retardant. Borates cover materials by melting and

prevent burning of material by cutting off contact of oxygen with flame.

Metallurgy

     Borax Pentahydrate is used as product which is a protective forming slag and it

accelerates melting in non-ferrous metal industry. Because it could form smooth,

adhesive, protective and clean, burr-free liquid at high temperatures.

Construction

      Borax Pentahydrate is used in making buildings as earthquake-resistant, high

strength and heat resistant. Also, Borax Pentahydrate has a significant use in terms

of heat and sound insulation.
